La vie sexuelle des amateurs de pornographie

The French National Survey on Sexual Behaviours (ACSF) was carried out in 1991. Twenty thousand and fifty five people, age 18 to 69 were interviewed. 5.7 % of the men declared that they often read pornographic material.
Results : The readers of pornographic magazines reported a higher sexual activity and more varied sexual practices than the average male population. They also have more partners and they expressed a more varied range of feelings, attitudes and fantasies.
The readers of pornographic materials are also more aware of the HIV contamination risks. They admit having modified their behaviour since the outbreak of the AIDS crisis and they use condoms during sexual intercourse.

With regards to HIV prevention, the variety and flexibility of sexual ways can be positively correlated with the changes of sexual practices required to avoid AIDS. Could pornography become a means to promote safer sex by building up an erotically social image of condoms ?
