P. STETTINI (Savone, Italie)
The author of EDUSEX, the new interactive system for European teenagers sexuality
education, sponsored by the E.U. and with the support of W.H.O., examines new
media advantages and limits on this particular area. The peculiarities and features
of the new media are analysed for a professional use in this field, i.e.: multimedia,
hypertext, interactivity, capacity of memory. Some basic questions are taken
into consideration and discussed: is it possible to reconcile electronic languages
and humanity, technical bondages and respect for the complexity, use of audiovisul
media and possibility of active involvment? Is it possible to produce a "humanizing
and active" approach -fundamental pivot of a positive sexuality education- using
a technology wich is, by its own definition, artificial and "cold"? The responsibility
of sexologists is thus underlined: their task is to contribute in the development
of educational instruments, of new resources to be included within educational
programmes, of new resources more and more sticking to the real demands of a
sexuality education for the young of the third millennium. A sexuality education
that has to be comprehensive, careful of values and open to ideological pluralism
and problematics.
