SUMMARY :
The expectation for a child is deeply rooted in all the newly wed couples, the
extended family and the society around them. "Everybody has a baby" is a reassuring
thought for the infertile couple as long as the evidence of infertility cannot
be denied. When it happens, it comes with a lot of bitterness. To work with
infertile couples in a program for Medically Assisted Procreation we need to
be aware of their expectations about pregancy and children, but we need also
to know their sexuality. A number of sexual dysfunctions can be responsible
for infertility, emotional dissatisfaction and finally, marital distance. The
reason why it is important for us to diagnose a sexual dysfunction, if there
is one, is that we could offer an alternative treatment : Sexual Therapy instead
of In Vitro Fertilization. We will report on cases of different psychosexual
adjustment.
