
SUMMARY
:
Since public use of sildenafil for oral therapy of ED, 60 minutes of
waiting was invoked for start the effect in this inhibitor of phosphodiesterases
type 5 in Latin patients.
Goal : The aim of this study is to show the time
of start of effect of sildenafil
in patients under study for ED, using the
Rigiscan test as part of the protocol of study, in an impotence clinic to identificate
when start the effect on Latin males.
Material and method : Twenty-tree
patients with ED were studied, only were included patients with IIEF-5 score equal
or less than 21. Patients arrived to test of Rigiscan, with last meal ate at last
two hour ago.
All tests were performed by the same nurse using Rigiscan plus
device, in a special designed laboratory inside of a clinic of impotence by a
modality provocative audiovisual sildenafil diurnal.
After basal test, each
patient takes 50 mg of sildenafil and the test goon by at last 50 minutes more.
All patients with cardiovascular disease were excluded.
For the analysis of
start of effect we had used the technique of the best erection.
Results
: We observed response in all 23 patients in an average timeof 26 minutes 30 seconds
(min. 10 minutes, max. 49 minutes).
Conclusions : Is a general idea to
prescribe sildenafil and recommend patients waitat last one our. This study showed
that when patient with stomach partially empty take sildenafil, the beginning
of effect could be as soon as 10 minutes, yet in a hostile place as the doctors
office. This data can help to recommend take the first doses far as two hours
from the last meal to get better results in ED therapy using sildenafil.
Most
patients can see the beginning of effect in an average of 26 minutes from intake
of sildenafil.
