Female Adultery

A. Houel (Bron, France)

SUMMARY :

What does an adulteress want ? What are the functions presumably assumed either by the husband or the lover ? What about the fantasy part assigned to the lover, with the husband in the place of a "safeguard" ? From what earliest madness is the husband guarding his wife, a part the passionate love for her mother, a love in which every female girl is prepared to sink ?

From the courtly poetry to the modern novel and the movie, the female adultery has always exerted a same fascination. It forces upon everyone its absolute threesome’s paradigm : the husband, the lover and the adulterss, twice loved. We are questionning here this double image of love, through an analysis of the classics of the feminine litterature which enables us to reopen some of the questions still to be solved after Freud on female desire.

Key words :
o passion
o adultery
o female sexuality
o mother-daughter’s bond
