International Chronoways Tournament
Our Twentieth century is nearly over. Everybody is trying to define it, to analyze it or to find a good way for leaving it alone. Here, at Vademe.cum, we think one of its main features is velocity. A growing magnitude that leads us to paroxysm. "Velocity" is defined as "the rate per unit of time at which an object moves in a specified direction". You need to confront space and time (our two main dimensions) to perceive speedness, so that maybe the quickest way to approach velocity is by traveling. This eagerness to get a good trip has inspired Vademe.cum artificers to convoque this International Chronoways Tournament. A proposal that will be available from June 1998 (our first anniversary) until nearly next century: Desember 31st 1999.
A chronoway is a public way which is called after a date. Anywhere, at any city or any town of the world. The only condition is obvious: it has to be possible to get a document that proofs its existence. So, all Vademe.cum transients are kindly requested to send some news about public ways ‹streets, roads, lanes, avenues, boulevards, squares... ‹ called after a date. We understand that a date is composed, at least, by a day and a month. The year is not necessary. We kindly ask you to mail the street name and the greatest possible amount of information about it (where is it, what kind of street it is, which neighbourhood it is in, why it is called after that date, which is your relationship with it... even a giff file with a photograph will be welcomed, and published).
You can see that our initial Space Calendar is not empty. We have already introduced some Chronoways. For example:
Maybe you will like to see if your birthday has a place. Each month we will add all new Chronoways to our Calendar, including their discoverer's names. We plan to complete the Calendar's 365 cases before next century comes to our lives. Would you mind helping us?
